The inspiration for this painting was the movie Frozen, with the main character and her castle in the background. The snowflake is the representation of this movie, as each snowflake is unique and the snowflake represents that this movie is different and unique from the other Disney movies. This painting consists of the 3 most important components from the movie; the main character, Elsa, her home, the castle, and the snowflake which represents the diversity and the uniqueness of the movie.

Helen has been a passionate young painter since the age of 4. She won an award at the 2nd World Cup Live Painting in 2013. Using colored pencils and black and white as background contrast, Helen wants to show that even though dogs and cats are seemingly different in nature and body, they can still be good friends. This painting is a small statement on the beauty of harmony in humanity.
Helen is excited to be one of the young artists in the event. Not only she can utilize her artistic talent to help those who are in need, it is also extremely gratifying for her knowing that she can put her talent to good use. She hopes that she can participate in more charitable events in the future.

我很荣幸能够参加这次义卖活动。我从小就很喜欢画画，并且从来都很希望我的画能帮助更多的人或事，而不只是为自己或我身边的人画。这一次的义卖活动对我来说是一个能用我的画来帮助更多的人的机会！或许我并不认识我将会帮助的人帮助的人，但我很乐意尽我的微薄之力为更多的人做出贡献！
Like the water which is soft and tolerant, like the fire which is passionate and stouthearted, the two centaurs bump into each other in space and fall in love. But their different perspectives hinder them from realizing their love and they do not get together. They can only gaze and wish for each other across their beliefs, painfully and happily.
My name is Ruiqi. It’s my pleasure to participate in this charity auction sale. I started to love painting in my childhood, and I always wished that I could help many people with my paintings, not just people around me. Aurora, Jing Sun is an international student at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School and will be transferring to Kitsilano Secondary School in September.
Aurora was inspired by comics when she was in Grade 6. She began drawing digital paint by herself since 2013 and she also started formal painting training in summer 2013. At school, she took classes in Western Art Appreciation to enrich her knowledge in Art.
Aurora feels that she is very fortunate to partake in the Emerging Young Artists Silent Auction. Firstly, it is a privilege to be able to use art to help the disadvantaged. Secondly, it is a good opportunity for her as a new people in this land to have an hands on experience to give back to the community.
孙婧，今年2月起就读Sir Charles Tupper secondary school，9月份将入读Kitsilano中学。
绘画学习经历：自6年级因喜欢动漫喜欢上画画。2013年开始用电脑手绘板自学画动漫人物，曾在当年暑假学习素描1个月。2012年9月至2014年1月，学习西方艺术鉴赏。2014年3月至今在孟氏绘画艺术学院学习。
参与绘画拍卖意义：很幸运能参与绘画拍卖会。首先，关爱弱势群体，给他们送去一点爱心；其次，作为我第一次亲身在温哥华的实践活动，不单单只是捐献，而是用自己的双手，为社会做一点奉献；最后，在孟氏绘画艺术学院的学习有了质的飞跃，自己在绘画方面有了自信。

I’m Chingchin Lu, and my artwork is called “Tile”. This piece is made up of different pieces of colour. Each piece carries its own unique lines and patterns. Some of the patterns, which resemble trees and flowers, represent nature. My artwork is kind of like a puzzle that shows the whole world composed of many pieces, each with its own special quality.
I used purple as the main colour to show the mysteriousness of the universe; dark green was used for the three-dimensional effect, and for the real roads are made up with irregular tiles. I also used some light color to represent the occasional glimmer of insight in the mystery.
I volunteered to participate in the Emerging Young Artist Silent Auction fundraiser for Kits House so that I could use my art talent to help other people in our community. I want to show that art can be everywhere when you need it.

6. Artist Statement : In this piece I wanted to create the ubiquitous emotion of solitude that numerous individuals may relate to. This hollow feeling is created by the young boy’s lingering eyes towards the house and the protective arms around the dog as the only companion left for him. This feeling is broken when he is drawn by the appearance of the birds and believes that he can strive forward by pursuing his focus towards his future like the birds.

This is Tiffany who has been in Canada for more than a year. I started my drawing courses more than 3 years ago. I love it very much. I won the third place award in Vancouver BC in the 2nd Youth World Cup Live Painting Competition. I also won first place for the 10th National Cultural and Artistic Contest for Teenagers.
This painting is called Catlin. I also won first place with this painting in a open competition. It is a great pleasure to be able to use my artistic talent to help people in our community.
